Around Moscow reside more then 100000 illegal foreigners

The number of foreigners living illegally in the region of Moscow exceeds 100000 persons. The chief of the Passport and Visa Administration of the Central Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Moscow region Nikolaj Skorik reported this to the Russian Business Consultant. The successful evolution in the capital region on the social and economical plan is stimulating the infflux of foreigner citizens, living in the surroundings of Moscow with the intention of finding a job and a business. If in 2004 in the territory surrounding Moscow 440000 foreign citizens have been already registered in the current year, to them have been added 155000 persons, said N. Skorik.

In the Moscow region there are more then 300 juridical persons and organizations that interact with foreign partners.

The majority of the foreigners today who are registered in the region are citizens of the CIS. The Passport and Visa Administration of the Central Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Moscow region have registered 35000 citizens from Moldavia, 18000 from Uzbekistan, 16000 - Tajikistan, 10000 from Ukraine.

Nevertheless according to our information the number of foreign citizens situated illegally in the region of Moscow exceeds 100000 persons. A lot of the illegals refer to their bad knowledge of the Russian legislation and seek for a justification in their juridical incompetence.

On the eve of the preparation for the 9th of May celebrations a special operation has been done Illegal immigration - within the limits of the law. Foreigners have been given exhaustive explanation about the acting migration legislation, including the consequence of aministrative expulsion out of the country. The operation gave an obvious result: from the number of the violatiors of the passport and visa order more then 2000 persons have used the amnesty and after the application of minimal penal sanctions, they returned voluntarily to their countries of origin, said N. Skorik.

Besides, from the beginning of 2005 from the territory of the Russian Federation 7403 foreigners have been expelled, for crudely and maliciously violating Russian legislation, avoiding registration and for not returning to their native lands by the proper date they were authorized to stay, he added.
