Alkhanov demands to stop linking the words “terrorist” and “Chechen”

Grozny, July 15th – RIA “Novosti”. The president of Chechnya, Alu Alkhanov, demands a stop to the linking of the term “terrorist” with the word “Chechen”.

“It is about time for some politicians and representatives of the mass media to step away from the custom of sticking a label on the Chechen people and using the word ‘terrorist’ in context with the term ‘Chechen’”, Alkhanov said in a speech at the “Hot Line” which was organized by the “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.

According to his words, he never classifies terrorists by the characteristic of nationality.

“I never say: a Dagestan, an Ossetian or a Karachai-Circassian terrorist. The whole world knows, that terrorists don’t have a nationality and that they all have the same face – the face of inhumanity”, the head of the republic said.

“It is always clear who is who. Nevertheless, we never make an investigation to find out the nationality of terrorists”, Alkhanov said.

According to his words, the leaders of terrorist groups are not Chechens, Englishmen or representatives of other nationalities. “They are people who don’t want the world to live in peace. They don’t care where they carry out their attacks because their main aim is to spread death and fear”, the Chechen president stated.
