Vandals Who Defiled a Jewish Cemetery Found in Krasnoyarsk

October 18th, 2007. Vandals who defiled a Jewish cemetery were detained in Krasnoyarsk. Six students from the Polytechnic institute between the ages of 16 and 19 were arrested, four girls and two boys.

At present testimonies are being taken from all those accused. One of the vandals, a young man of 18 years, has been put in jail. It has been established that he took part directly in the destruction of monuments. He admitted to his involvement in the incident.

According to the adolescent, the youth overturned monuments because of hooliganism and drunkenness. . The youth are being accused under Item 2 of Article 244 (Violating a Place of Burial) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

V. Kovalenko expressed that not one of the adolescents belongs to any kind of extremist youth movement, and some of them have already attracted the attention of the police for previously committing minor offenses.
