Chairman of �Union of Russian People� is Sentenced to 18 Months for Inciting Ethnic Hatred

The court of Blagoveshchensk has recognized the chairman of the Amur department of "Union of Russian people" Igor Terekhov �guilty of inciting national hatred and hostility" and has been sentenced to one and a half years� imprisonment in a colony-settlement. This information was provided by ITAR-TASS in the Office of the Public Prosecutor of the Amur area. As established through investigation, at a meeting of the constitutive Amur department of "Union of Russian People ", Terekhov made statements in the form of forceful opposition of one nationality against another, called for interethnic, religious hatred and enmity, and named representatives of other faiths, and people of a non-Russian nationality "enemies of the Russian people ". According to a linguistic and stylistic examination of Terekhov's report, expressions were used at the meeting that judged the personalities of political and religious figures which damaged the prestige and respect of these people. Investigation of the criminal case was conducted by the Office of the Public Prosecutor of Blagoveshchensk.
