In a letter to Yuri Chaika, the Chief Prosecutor, and Internal Affairs Minister Rashid Nurgaliev the President of Yakutiya Vyacheslav Shtyrov has expressed his concern over the brutal murder in Southwestern Moscow of Sergei Nikolaev, a well-known chess-player from Yakutiya. The president also expressed his confidence that law-enforcement agencies will do everything in their power to prevent similar crimes from taking place in future. Sergei Nikolaev, 46, was killed on Saturday beside house number 37 on Architectora Vlasova street. According to first reports, the Yakut chess-player was attacked by a group of young people armed with baseball bats and knives. Several dozen young people have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in Sergei Nikolaevs murder and also being involved in an assault on a 37 year-old man from Uzbekistan.
