Interethnic Youth Leadership Camp on the Mediterranean

The Center for Interethnic Cooperation invites leaders of Interethnic organizations or those who wish to become leaders to take park in our Interethnic Leadership Camp. The camp will take place from the 18th to the 26th of August 2007 on the waters of the Mediterranean. Most of the time participants will spend on 10-place yachts of the “Bavaria” class. The general length of the tour on the Mediterranean will be 250 sea miles. Activists aged 35 and under are invited to participate. The working languages of the camp will be English and Russian.

The program of the camp (estimated at seven days) will allow the participants:

To develop their leadership potential
To learn how to work in a youth team and manage a team
To gain communication skills
To live under unusual conditions and learn to take unusual decisions
To make new friends
To manage a boat and feel like a real seafarer
To relax whilst getting active and sporty
To get acquainted with the amazing nature, culture and cuisine of the Mediterranean

Methods

Camp participants will take part in interactive training sessions, games and sporting activities. As a rule they will live and eat on the boats. A cultural-entertainment program will also be organized. Some of the training sessions will take place in special locations, some outdoors and some on board the boats. Camp participants will receive information hand-outs and certificates on completion of the course.

Organizers

Organizers of the Youth Interethnic Camp are the Center for Interethnic Cooperation and the National Center for Strategic Communication, whose leading expert Mixail Saveleyevis is also the organizer of the Russian sailing week on the Mediterranean. http://www.volvocars.ru/footer/about/...

The Center for Interethnic Cooperation has carried out training sessions in London, Amsterdam, Sochi, Anapa, Gelendjika, Kaliningrad and twenty other regions of Russia. Young people from all over the world, the U.S.A, Canada, Britain, Germany Italy and Russia have participated in its training sessions. The main result of these training sessions is the enthusiasm and enjoyment of the participants.

Conditions of Participation:

The cost of participation, including yacht rental, tutelage of experienced skippers (Yacht Captains) and trainers, distributed material, food, insurance, stay at the Marina, preparation of official documents etc., comes to 700 euros. Air tickets, certain excursions and transfers airport-Marina-airport are not included in this price.

Saturday:

Arrival of participants at airports Dalaman/Antalya (Turkey)
Boarding the yachts at Marmaris
Meet and Greet with participants
Instruction in technical rules of safety and procedure on yachts
Establishment of tasks and aims of the Interethnic Youth Leadership Camp

Sunday:

Sail out to sea 10am
Sea crossing to Olyu Deniz
Anchor at Cold Bay

Monday:

Visit to the island Gemilir – Ruins of St. Nicholas monastery
Weather permitting – Trip to Valley of butterflies and Olyiu Deniz waterfalls
Crossing to Fetxia

Tuesday:

Visit to Pearl reserve Skopje Estuary
Participation in Boat race
Crossing to Ball Bay or Sersel Bay
Educational Module “Team Work”

Wednesday:

Crossing to Ekinchik
Passage through a bay in which there is a U.S aircraft carrier “Harry Truman”
Educational Module “Role Assignment in a Team”
Barbecue Party

Thursday:

Educational Module “Negotiating”
Excursion to Dalyan – visit grandiose ruins of Kaunosa with it’s magnificent stone tombs
Visiting mud sources and sandy beaches where turtles deposit eggs

Friday:

Crossing to Marmaris
De-briefing of camp
Farewell evening within the walls of the Fortress of Crusaders

Saturday:

Walk around Marmaris
Departure of participants from airports Dalaman/Antalia

Please inform us of your decision to participate in the camp no later than 2 weeks before the commencement of the course. Date of arrival of participants in Marmaris is the 18th of August, Departure date is the 26th of August.
